I found this numbers area rug at Costco today for $19.99 =D they also had one in an alphabet and the map of the US. It also will work as a really cool activity to practice our number of the week. You have your child hop to the number on the rug =D This is also the area where I moved the "reading nook" with their bears to cuddle up with.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - With Lyrics - Alphabet Song
Here is an Alphabet Tree I created cutting foam sheets with my Scrapbook Cricut Cutting machine. This is based on the palm tree in the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom." I used a $1.00 single cutting file for the palm tree at Little Scraps of Heaven that you can view HERE I purchased 6 brown foam sheets that were sized about 11"x14" and 5 green foam sheets to create this. The letters are letter sticky notes that came in a pack and I purchased those at Office Depot. You could print these out or cut them with your Cricut machine. We plan to learn a letter each week and when we accomplish the letter we are going to stick it on the tree.
I really love reading this book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" by Bill Martin, Jr. to my boys and I highly recommend it =D Here is a utube video on the song and lyrics to the song on in this book:
Lyrics to the Music
Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
A told B, and B told C, "I'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree."
"Wheee!" said D to E F G, "I'll beat you to the top of the coconut tree."
Chicka chicka boom boom! Will there be enough room? Here comes H up the coconut tree,
and I and J and tag-along K, all on their way up the coconut tree.
Chicka chicka boom boom! Will there be enough room? Look who's coming! L M N O P!
And Q R S! And T U V! Still more - W! And X Y Z!
The whole alphabet up the - Oh, no! Chicka chicka... BOOM! BOOM!
Skit skat skoodle doot. Flip flop flee. Everybody running to the coconut tree.
Mamas and papas and uncles and aunts hug their little dears, then dust their pants.
"Help us up," cried A B C.
Next from the pileup skinned-knee D and stubbed-toe E and patched-up F. Then comes G all out of breath.
H is tangled up with I. J and K are about to cry. L is knotted like a tie.
M is looped. N is stopped. O is twisted alley-oop. Skit skat skoodle doot. Flip flop flee.
Look who's coming! It's black-eyed P, Q R S, and loose-tooth T. Then U V W wiggle-jiggle free.
Last to come X Y Z. And the sun goes down on the coconut tree...
But - chicka chicka boom boom! Look, there's a full moon.
A is out of bed, and this is what he said, "Dare double dare, you can't catch me.
Chicka chicka BOOM! BOOM!Chicka chicka BOOM! BOOM!
I'll beat you to the top of the coconut tree."

DIY I am a Promise Book Ends
SHOW AND TELL TIME!
I am setting up my boys homeschool right now and into the FUN stuff...decorating etc. Today I made bookends. I will be having Bible time as part of our curriculum and we have a special Children's Bible and Chrildren's Bible song book that Grandma and Grandpa gave them that we want to display with these special bookends =D.
For the title and paper piecings I used digital files from little Scraps of Heaven Designs "I am a Promise Boy" HERE and the "I am a Promise Girl" set HERE
I used this cardboard box to create the bookend base
My boys LOVE to paint and so I thought I would let them be included on decorating their homeschool area. I told them that I needed these painted to help glue my cardstock to it =D
After I enclosed the bookend using a glue gun to seal it I left a little opening to pour in rice to make it a weight...then glued the opening.
I used paper from the Scrapbooking Company Cosmo Cricket's Mr. Campy Collection to cover the bookends.
Make your Own Pottery Barn Stuff Bookends
These are adorable book ends that are sold at Pottery barn. They are quite pricey but over at www.Shelterness.com she shows you how to make these yourself!! Here is how:
First of all you need to made a patter for the owls and cut out the fabric for them. Felt would work like a charm for the eyes while flannel would be as good for the wings. Next you need to arrange everything together and sew it then together. To finish you need to stuff them together and put rice at the bottom to weigh them down. Enjoy these little cuties!
